Believe it or not, it's National Taco Day. The local place I noticed that's celebrating is also my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Boston-area. Nobody comes closer than Cantina La Mexicana to making food that I'd find at authentic taquerias in Los Angeles.
Who knows how "mini" the mini-tacos will be, but I assume 10 would be more than enough!
To ideas is to "give Bostonians the opportunity to see buzz-worthy, up and coming artists perform for free in an intimate setting." I scouted it out a couple weeks ago, and this outdoor seating is comfortable enough for hanging with fantastic indie singer-songwriters who back themselves up with loops.
If you're going to have post-work drinks tonight, this is a sweet spot in the middle of the city. (FYI: $3.50 'Gansett tall boys...)
The Beehive is doing their thing tonight with oom-pah music from 7pm to midnight.
In my recollection, the dark decor has a few vaguely Bohemian touches like faux-trophy horns and short beer mugs. There will be German dishes available (likely more than $10) and fresh pretzels (likely less than $10). Should be a lively night in the South End.
For full-on rock, there's a benefit show at O'Brien's in honor of a guy killed by a drunk driver a few years ago with Girlfriends, Bozmo, Luau, Dream Warrior ($8 suggested donation / 18+)
There's an eclectic show at Middle East - Upstairs anchored by genre-hopping Wisconsin rockers Sleeping In The Aviary. Bluegrass-y/funky The Doctors Fox open, and a Wilco tribute group will finish the night. The members come from good bands (Hangman's Alphabet, Eddie Japan, The Rationales, The Future Everybody, Neutral Uke Hotel, etc), but I couldn't find out much about this endeavor.
