Sneak Peek: SUN 5/2

Just be anywhere on a nice day.

--------------------------------------------------------------

SUN 5/2

11am
Jef Czekaj, "Hip & Hop Don't Stop!": Reading
at Brookline Booksmith, 279 Harvard St, Brookline (Coolidge Corner)
FREE

I don't know Jef Czekaj personally. I have used his posters on the blog for cool events around town, and I've seen the his group Big Digits; so I'd like to spread the word for his hip-hop children's book. Kids of all ages should dig it.

SUN 5/2

Noon to 6pm
Annual MayFair
around Harvard Square, Cambridge
FREE

This might be the most crowded that Harvard Square gets -- loads of entertainment and vendors all over the place.

These are the bands I'd keep an eye/ear out.

Main Stage:

1:30pm - Todd Thibaud
2:30pm - The Downbeat 5
3:25pm - Action Verbs
4:15pm - Apollo Run
5pm - Marcus Santos & AfroBrazil
Border Cafe Stage:
4pm - Love in Stockholm
5pm - Oranjuly
Passim Stage:
1pm - John Shade w/ the Neave String Quartet
2pm - Margaret Glaspy
3pm - Anne Heaton
4pm - Railbird
5pm - David Wax Museum
SUN 5/2

Noon to 6pm
Annual Somerville Open Studios
all over Somerville [PDF, Jpeg]
FREE

There's a lot of painting, sculpting, assembling, etc around Somerville. Over 300 artists in over 100 venues show you what they've been making. (They'll even sell you stuff.) If I were you, I'd take the T and walk around (or take the trolley).

Running concurrently with Sunday's Open Studios it the "Top Shelf Flea Market" at the Dilboy VFW. (Free to look around, and the bar will be open.)

Brookline is also having "Open Studios".

SUN 5/2

6pm to 10pm
INFEST: Film & Video Showcase
at Stuart Street Playhouse, 200 Stuart Street, Boston (Theatre District)
FREE

Short films from Emerson students as well as a feature-length at 8pm.
