You Ask, I Answer: Bingo?

This is an easy one.

Jessica "asked":

Quick question -- have you been to Rock N Roll Bingo at Bella Luna/Milky Way?

Is it fun?
No, I haven't.

But I did enjoy my bingo when I went to the same game (i.e. same people) at the Model Cafe.

Isn't the secret that you don't have to be old to enjoy bingo?

It's another way to compete with others in the room -- without having to know the longest-running sitcom or being able to hit a double-bullseye.

It's been a while since I've listed it on the front page, but I leave it on the calendar as a regular thing on the last Wednesday of the month.

Before the Milky Way moved, there was another regular bingo night. So JP folks might have an inclination for inkspotting numbers as quickly as possible.

I suspect people are still having fun, and a few people are still winning prizes (like free drinks).

There might even be free cupcakes every now and then...

NOTE: There has been a slight change to the policy:

Wednesday nights after 4 pm, admission is by voluntary contribution (suggested donation $22).
You still don't have to pay, but they previously didn't try too hard to get the contribution.

It can seem to sit quietly by The Fens on the E Line, but our big art museum is world-class and in the middle of an expansion that's supposed to be done this year. You probably know you can go on any Wednesday evening for free, but when was the last time you went?

You got a collection that includes ancient art from around the world, Renaissance art and on, American art, and a gallery full of modern art. See great works by Rembrandt, Monet (including a couple "Water Lilies"), Renoir, one of Gaugin's masterpieces, Picasso, Van Gogh, Turner, Jackson Pollock, and many more. I personally enjoy visiting the room of historic and peculiar musical instruments.

I'd check out the "British Prints 1914-1939" that's on display through the end of May. If you go this Wednesday, there are a contemporary Japanese art and German photography exhibits that end on SUN 2/12. There's even a 'shoe as art' exhibit thru 3/23

Yes, you can download podcast guides from some of the exhibits too.

Extra kudos to the MFA for having active film and live music programs. I'm not interested in every event, but they have many cool events throughout the year.
