TUES 11/4: Election Day, Etc.

I've been obsessed with the election. I'm so glad it's finally here! Please vote if you're registered (and are leaning towards Obama)... I did try to find a republican party, but I wasn't successful in my far-from-exhaustive search. (And there is one non-election event at the bottom.)

--------------------------------------------------------------

FREE STUFF ON ELECTION DAY

Note: There is a law that prohibits offering someone to vote or to not vote (according to NPR and Bloomberg), both companies have had to change their offer to include everyone. So you can say "I voted," "I'm going to vote," "I'd like my Election Day [freebie]," or your variation on any of those.

TUES 11/4

5pm to 8pm
Scoop of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream
at participating Ben & Jerry's scoop shops
FREE

Ben & Jerry's ice cream is so good, they don't ever need to give a free scoop, but they do. I know they're part of a giant conglomerate -- I still love Cherry Garcia!

TUES 11/4

7am to ???
"Tall" 12 oz. Coffee
at participating Starbucks locations
FREE

I'm not a fan of Starbucks, but a free coffee is a free coffee. Remember: you don't have to buy anything else...

THUR 11/4

7pm
Hard Rock the Vote Election Party
at Hard Rock Cafe, 22 Clinton St, Boston (near Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall)
FREE w/ RSVP / 21+

Do you feel like going out to watch the election results downtown? Why not RSVP for this party... I think these are first-come, first-served deals even if you respond, but they usually let everyone in eventually. Heck, you might not even have to wait... I like the idea of free food and booze -- that counts as "pursuit of happiness", right? They claim to offer "prizes and giveaways" also.

"All Guests must RSVP" individually.

Stuff I saw on Barack Obama's site:

TUES 11/4

7pm
Election Night Social / Trivia
at JJ Foley's, 117 E Berkeley St, Boston (South End)
FREE

It's Stump Trivia at 8:30pm, and you can hang out with Obama supporters.

(Megan asks that you RSVP.)

TUES 11/4

7:30pm to 12:30am
Newton Democrats Election Night Party
at Union Street Bar & Grill -- Upstairs, 107 Union St, Newton Centre
FREE

Am not sure if there's anything special planned, except the whole Upstairs is for Obama supporters tonight. You can high-five everyone without wondering where they stand on the presidential race!

Contact Shawn (Newton Democratic City Committee) with your questions.

TUES 11/4

8pm
Election Night Headquarters
at Fairmont Copley Plaza, 138 St James Ave, Boston (Copley Sq)
FREE w/ RSVP

There doesn't seem to be any strings attached [PDF] except that you have to RSVP by email -- oh, and it will probably already full to capacity... John Kerry is supposed to be there.

TUES 11/4

8pm to 10pm
"Faster Than A Fax Machine": Screening & Performance
at Film Dept, Screening Room 1, East Bldg, about 635 Huntington Ave, Boston (MassArt)
$4 suggested donation

If the results aren't your bag, then here's a documentary about two of our local musicians, Chris Wilhelm and Garland "Bullet" Cook, who are taking different paths as they follow their dreams. Chris is scheduled to perform after the screening. Maybe Bullet will throw out a rap too...

Again, I try to provide my best indication of how to get there (besides giving the usual "621" address).
