10/11 & 10/12 Honk! Festival & Parade

(Some of my person HonkFest pix)

Okay, trying to get back into the groove with Saturday & Sunday cheapness on the calendar.

This is basically a repost, because -- as I say below -- Honk Festival is my favorite day of the year in Somerville.

--------------------------------------------

SAT 10/11 and SUN 10/12

Various Times
Honk! Festival & Parade
around Davis Sq, Somerville & Harvard Sq, Cambridge
FREE

Saturday -- 12:3pm to 9pm
Sunday -- Noon to 6pm
The HonkFest convenes horn bands of different shapes and flavors for a weekend of music and populist spirit.

For the 8 years in a row, Davis Square is filled with horn music and beautiful freaks, as if a bit of New Orleans is dropped in the middle of Somerville. I go whenever I can, because it's my favorite free event of the year.

About 30 bands from around the country -- including a group from NOLA, Austin, and even London -- set up at different spots around Davis.

Spend as much time as you can to walk around find your favorites. Bring your positivity and your party shoes.

On Sunday, you can parade along with the bands to Harvard Square for a couple hours. Then many of the bands will perform on a couple of the Ocktoberfest stages.
