FRI 5/16: Beer Fun, Rock Fun, Dance Fun, Social Justice Fun

Ryan's Smashing Life picks the Rock, TT's
Just in case my list doesn't go out in timely fashion (like the last 50 or so weeks...), I wanted you to know there is cheap fun today!

--------------------------------------------------------------

FRI 5/16

Noon to 7pm
Drinking Beer for Free -- aka Sam Adams Brewery Tour
at Sam Adams Brewery, 30 Germania St, Jamaica Plain
FREE

As part of American Craft Beer Week, the tour hours will be extended to 7pm -- which means you can go after work! It's free, informative, and you get 3 or 4 glasses of beer (or more if you hog the pitchers). The last tour starts at 6pm on these nights. There's going to be a specialty beer added to the tasting (but it seems like that happens on a regular basis), and you'll get a complimentary beer & food pairing guide.

No reservations required.

FRI 5/16

7pm to 9pm
Amy & David Goodman, "Ordinary Heroes in Extraordinary Times": Discussion
at First Church in Jamaica Plain, 6 Eliot St, Jamaica Plain
$5

Amy Goodman is the co-host of independent, public radio news program "Democracy Now!" and she's collaborated with her journalist brother David Goodman on a book, "Standing Up to the Madness", about real people (vs. politicians and the press) taking action for liberty and justice.

FRI 5/16

7:19-11:19pm
Silent Rave Boston
at Boston Common, NW corner by Beacon St & Charles St, Boston
FREE

This was posted on Craigslist, and I received no response from the originator. It's not a prank, if people enjoy themselves. I think people will show up (with their iPods, Walkmans, whatever) and dance silently and have a great time. This is definitely the cheapest dance club in town!

FRI 5/16

Aloud (Midnight), Murder Mystery (11pm), Miss Fairchild (10pm), Scuba (9pm)
at TT the Bear's Place, 10 Brookline St, Cambridge (Central Sq)
$8

Presented by an excellent music blog, Ryan's Smashing Life, this will be an excellent rock show. Aloud may be the best local band I've seen this year so far, and I think Murder Mystery sound like they might be a harder-rocking TMBG.

Stranded in Stereo will be giving out their free compilation CDs while supplies last. (And you can sign up to receive more...)
