TUES 5/13: Singer-Songwriters & Operatic Singers

Audrey Ryan
Tuesday night is a good night to sit back and hang out... Have a brew or too... Listen to some free music...

That's what I've got tonight, and you'll be satisfied with either place.

--------------------------------------------------------------

TUES 5/13

Greg Klyma (8pm), Ryan Fitzsimmons (10pm)
at Toad, 1912 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Porter Sq)
FREE

Both of these guys do really great folkish stuff. They played a dual show at a historic house in JP a couple months. Substitute excellent acoustics and a cover charge with a great beer selection and free admission -- and you basically have a $13 show.

TUES 5/13

9:30pm
Audrey Ryan Band
at Toast Lounge, 70 Union Sq, Somerville
FREE

Her voice has an unusual, high timbre; and she writes atypical melodies over a jazzy folk-rock. I give her a big thumbs, and so do several of my music-loving friends.

TUES 5/13

8pm to 8:45pm
"The Frat Party": Opera Comique in One Act
at CFA Concert Hall, 855 Comm Ave, Boston (BU campus)
FREE

You would think with a name like Basil Considine, it would be rare to be confused with someone else. Au contraire, mon frere! Besides the BU musicologist, there's also a radiologist in Michigan. Boston Basil has whipped up a "comical" opera about a frat party that has a keg-full of conflict to resolve. I normally abhor opera in English, but this is out there tonight...
