MON 9/22: Cuba Talk, Folkish Indie-Rock

Mr Sister at WERS

Slim cheap pickings tonight. Maybe it's a good night to partake in some inexpensive hobby...

--------------------------------------------------------------

MON 9/22

6pm
Sec. Carlos Gutierrez, "The United States' Relationship with Cuba": Lecture
at John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum, Littauer Bldg, 79 JFK St, Cambridge (Harvard campus)
FREE

I contacted someone last week, and they told me this is open to the public. I wonder if the U.S. Secretary of Commerce is going to show up, or if the whole Bush economic team is holed up in Cheney's undisclosed bunker location. If he does show up, Sec. Gutierrez, will probably articulate the ineffective US policy stance against Cuba, but perhaps he might say something refreshing in his remarks or answers to questions.

MON 9/22

Mr Sister, Forsythe, Hands and Knees
at ZuZu!, 474 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Central Sq)
FREE

Your best bet for free music tonight. Mr Sister revolves around the evocative vocals and songwriting of Amelia Bradley; when she sings about something cold, I feel a chill... The other members of the band play in other groups like Hallelujah The Hills and Faces on Film. I like the pop-ish indie-rock. Forsythe claims to be a brother-sister duo, but it's not that easy to believe ever since the White Stripes tried to pull that one a few years ago...
