MON 11/9: Wall Party, Music

For the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, you could celebrate with MIT students (see below) or there's a piece of the Berlin Wall (above right) not far from the Museum of Science.

(Whoops. This should've posted earlier...)

--------------------------------------------------------------

MON 11/9

7pm to 8pm
20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall
at Bush Room, Barker Library, 222 Memorial Dr, Cambridge (MIT campus)
FREE

Some kind of Berlin Wall will be built in the lobby of the building which will be torn down in the evening. Some former East Germans will be in attendance to speak, and there will be German food...

MON 11/9

9:30pm
The Organ Beats, Social Studies, Suit of Hair
at PA's Lounge, 345 Somerville Ave, Somerville (Union Sq)
$7 -- 21+ / $10 -- 18+

It looks like The Organ Beats are playing a bunch of local gigs in the next couple weeks, this would be a damn good night for loud and fuzzy powerpop from Noelle (from Damone) and band. Social Studies bring some cool indie-pop from San Francisco. "Suit of Hair" still strikes me as great name for a band, and that goes a long way to gauging the creativity of the musicians. The catchy yet quirky indie-rock lives up to the name's potential.

MON 11/9

10pm
Dwight & Nicole
at Atwoods Tavern, 877 Cambridge St, Cambridge (East Cambridge)
FREE

The next few Mondays would be a good time to catch Dwight and Nicole, since I read they're heading back to New York after hanging their hats in Boston for the past year. The soulful, blues duo will probably still visit, but their music is amazing. Listening sooner is better than later.

MON 11/9

10pm
Ryan Lee Crosby, St Claire
at ZuZu!, 474 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Central Sq)
FREE

If I wanted to hear some great songs in a free, acoustic setting in a cool Central Square bar; I'd listen right here.
