SAT 6/25: Early Half

This should've been up last night...

I guess some outdoor stuff is on, and some is rescheduled.

--------------------------------------------------------------

SAT 6/25

10am to 5pm
Let's Talk About Food Festival
at Cambridge Parkway, along Charles River, adjacent to Royal Sonesta Hotel, Cambridge (Lechmere)
FREE

Okay, looks like this is on -- rain or shine.

Some people like to talk about food. The way it tastes, the ingredients, how it was made...

The talk at this get-together includes substantial topics like how food is produced and distributed as well as the science of food. (The Museum of Science was deeply involved.)

A lot of great chefs will be doing demonstrations on the main stage like: Charles Draghi (Erbaluce), Jody Adams (Rialto), Keith Pooler (Bergamot), Frank McClelland (L’Espalier), Mary Dumont (Harvest) and Tiffani Faison (Top Chef, Season 1), Jay Murray (Grill 23), Dante de Magistris (Dante), Joanne Chang (Flour / Myers+Chang), Erwin Ramos (Ole / Zocalo).

Eating food is rather wonderful too. There will be food trucks and probably some samples.

SAT 6/25 (and SUN 6/26)

10am to 5pm
Health & Fitness Expo
at Hynes Convention Center, 900 Boylston St, Boston (Back Bay)
FREE

There are also 3 stages for demonstrations, performances, healthy cooking along with other exhibits and activities. Maybe you'll see Tedy Bruschi or Glen Davis.

If you don't feel like going to the doctor/hospitals, there are various health screenings too.

I don't know if it's just for kids, but I think it would be funny to get in front of the green screen and try a weather forecast.

SAT 6/25

The Parlotones (7:30pm), The Daylights (6:30pm)
at TT the Bear's Place, 10 Brookline St, Cambridge (Central Sq)
$10

These are 2 contenders for bands that stride indie and arena rock and are striving to reach a higher level of pop-dom.

When I first read about The Parlotones, they were described as "South Africa's answer to..." Radiohead or Coldplay. It's not bad stuff, but I have really thought about them in the last 3 months since they've been in Boston. I think I like The Daylights better.

You can go if you enjoy the music, because no one really knows them to judge you...

SAT 6/25

6pm
Dunn
at Bull McCabe's, 366 Somerville Ave, Somerville (Union Sq)
FREE

If you feel like having a few early pints, you could do a lot worse worse than the Irish/folky rock to keep you company and enhance the experience.

Funny: I've had quite a few daytime & nighttime pints in this room, and I think Damon the fiddle-player has been there about every other time. Keep an eye out for him, and you'll see him more often...
