WED 6/8: Ice Cream, Uke, Grass, Dance, Metal

Okay, being brief today.

(Oh, crap. I just realized I listed bluegrass gigs on consecutive nights...)

--------------------------------------------------------------

WED 6/8 (and THUR 6/9)

Noon to 8pm
Scooper Bowl
at City Hall Plaza, Boston (Govt Center)
$8 / $4 for ages 3 to 9 ($15 -- 3 day access)

All-you-can-eat ice cream is still good, and today is supposed to be a scorcher. Cold, sweet comfort is tempered by sweaty, sticky kids running about.

Remember: proceeds benefit the Jimmy Fund/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

WED 6/8

6:30pm to 8pm
Ukulele Jam
at Brattle House courtyard, 42 Brattle St, Cambridge (Harvard Sq)
FREE

Danno Sullivan is leading a battalion of ukulele players through a variety of tunes. All are welcome to drop in and listen, and you can bring a uke to join in. You don't even need to sign up for a class.

I assume the "refreshments provided" will be of the 'soft' variety, but any cool drink should be pleasant.

WED 6/8

8pm
The Farewell Drifters, The Boston Boys
at Johnny D's, 17 Holland St, Somerville (Davis Sq)
$10

Are you into Newgrass/Bluegrass?

The Farewell Drifters from Nashville are making fans all over, 'cause it's an amiable sound. The Boston Boys are some of our Berklee-educated rootsy-grassy platers.

WED 6/8

9pm
Bad Rabbits Present: "The American Dream" Party
at Enormous Room, 567 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Central Sq)
FREE / 21+

DJ sets by: Jasmine Solano, Boston George, Bad Rabbits, Nate Mystery Roar, King EvRock

Shh! This place is not enormous enough to tell people that you really don't want to hang out with while drinking free PBR "from 9-10pm (while supplies last)."

Will the Bad Rabbits be able to throw DJ parties after they get back from playing the Warped Tour? Maybe, but why not hang out with the cool people now?

You can have your picture taken like last time too.

WED 6/8

Motherboar (11:30pm), Tombs (10:45pm), Death Ray Vision (10pm), Blacktail (9:15pm)
at Great Scott, 1222 Comm Ave, Allston
$10 / 18+

Just like monthly nights at O'Briens, Born of Fire has put together another kick-ass metal show.
