MON 10/6: American Rock, Middle East Peace Talk

Dead Confederate, at TT's tonight
Ugh. Monday again, and not much good cheapness out there tonight... These are what looked promising to me.

--------------------------------------------------------------

MON 10/6

7pm
"Palestinian-Israeli Negotiations: Defining Progress and Challenges": Lecture
at Room 310, Higgins Hall, 140 Comm Ave, Chestnut Hill (BC campus)
FREE

It appears Wassim Khazmo, who advises the PLO through their Negotiations Support Unit, periodically visits Boston and addresses those interested about the state of affairs in Palestine. (I'm guessing it's not so good.) It could be interesting to hear about the Middle East peace process from someone so close to the action. Khazmo is also expected to discuss how the next US administration might be able to help the situation.

MON 10/6

Catfish Haven (11:15pm), Dead Confederate (10:20pm), Mean Creek (9:30pm), The Motion Sick (8:45pm)
at TT the Bear's Place, 10 Brookline St, Cambridge (Central Sq)
http://www.ttthebears.com/public/index.html
$8

Sometimes you see a band on Conan O'Brien, then you feel like catching a full set. You'd have to do it in reverse thise, because Dead Confederate are hitting "Late Night" on Friday. They were at TT's in June and kicked ass; I'm sure Dead Confederate is going whip up a torrent of dark, heavy, Southern indie-rock. There's a lot of buzz around these guys, and folks at Rolling Stone dig them.

Catfish Haven is touring around with Dead Confederate, and they're another excellent band that I hadn't heard of. Two of our best local groups are also on the bill. Mean Creek's have a wonderful rootsiness indie-rock, but they rock out -- as do The Motion Sick.

You might be tired from staying up last night, but you'll be deeply rewarded for dragging your ass out for one of those great shows that can happen on a Monday night. There's a TV at the club too...
