SAT 5/14: Daytime

Looking for something to do?

--------------------------------------------------------------

SAT 5/14 (and SUN 5/15)

11am to 6pm
SoWa Art Walk
at 450 Harrison Ave and around there, Boston (South End)
FREE to walk around

The funny thing about the SoWa "art walk" is that the site doesn't really give you a clear idea where to walk. I was in the neighborhood on ArtWalk weekend and there were signs to guide you.

A lot of the open studios were in 450 Harrison, and the other places are basically down Harrison and on side streets as you walk a few blocks to the south.

The SoWa Open Market is open tomorrow for further browsing of artsy-crafty stuff, and several food trucks are parked for food and drink.

SAT 5/14

Noon to 4pm
Kite & Bike Festival
at Playstead, Franklin Park, Boston
FREE

It may not be an ideal day to fly a kite, but you could have fun anyway. If you don't have one, there should be some for sale and supposedly a kite-making station -- then you can use it all summer long.

Since it's Bay State Bike Week, there will be free bike rentals for a tour of the park.

The officials always give directions as near the rear entrance of the zoo, but it's not a far walk from the Green Street T station.

SAT 5/14 (and SUN 5/15)

Noon to 6pm
Cambridge Open Studios: Central
around Central Sq & Cambridgeport, Cambridge
FREE

Most of the art action is located from Central Square straight down to the Charles River. I take this walk to the river occasionally, and I think it could fun to see what people have been making inside their places.

Most of the specific info is in the PDF brochure.

North Cambridge is opening their doors next weekend.

SAT 5/14

1pm to 4pm
The Hub Crawl
Start at Copley Square, Clarendon St & Boylston St, Boston (Back Bay)
$10 per person / $40 per team / 18+

I should've mentioned this earlier. You don't need a team of 4, but it's going to be easier. There may be still space available for a 3-hour photo-based scavenger hunt. You need: at least one digital camera, a mobile phone, and the ability to walk around Back Bay.

Registration is happening between 11:45pm and 12:45pm
