WED 12/10: Wine, Film, Rock, Comedy

Am putting less into today's list short (and maybe tomorrow) to do something better for the weekend.

Happy Human Rights Day!

Happy Day without a Gay Day!

--------------------------------------------------------------

WED 12/10

6:30pm to 8:30pm
Complimentary Wine Tasting: "Sparkling Wine"
at Alchemist Lounge, 435 S Huntington Ave, Jamaica Plain
FREE

Are you going to be in JP tonight? Stop in for a free drink... "Bring your friends. Light refreshments will be served"

WED 12/10

7pm
"Wings of Desire"
at Harvard Film Archive, Carpenter Center, 24 Quincy St, Cambridge (Harvard campus)
FREE

Wim Wenders would be the man, if he only made this film. I used to force people to watch this German-language movie about angels in a "black and white" Berlin as one dreams of love and living in "color". Some find it tedious at points, but you will be a better person after seeing it. Worth it for the club scene with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds.

(It's hard for me to sit through the American remake, "City of Angels".)

WED 12/10

8pm -- Doors Open
The Miracle On Tremont Street "After Party"
w/ The Ting Tings
at Church, 69 Kilmarnock St, Boston (Fenway)
FREE

The Ting Tings are pretty good. I wouldn't mind even paying a few bucks to see them, but free is even better.

I know of 2 ways to get in: You can register at WFNX's site -- or be one of the first 4 to respond to this blog entry at The Phoenix to get in (+1). (There's still a chance as I write this.)

They say, "Space is limited so don't delay!"

WED 12/10

9pm
Rob Cantrell's "Electric Study Break" w/ Greg Barris, Mike O'Rourke, DJ Tha.Itch
at TT the Bear's Place, 10 Brookline St, Cambridge (Central Sq)
$8

It's a comedy show with videos and a DJ mixed in. Should be really funny. In his Bostonist interview, Rob Cantrell said he'd like to "take things to a different place which is what I'm trying to do now by going to these alternative places where I can play videos, and have a DJ, and mess around with a beat machine and do some songs."
