MON 2/1: Iraq Talk & Blues

Yes, there are other cheap events around (like a punk show at Charlies Kitchen, an art/lit/creativity discussion at Arsenal Center for the Arts, etc). These looked like the best bets...

I probably would've listed Delta Spirit at the Middle East for $12, but it's sold out.

The first round of the Beanpot is on NESN tonight too.

--------------------------------------------------------------

MON 2/1

7pm
Thomas Ricks, "The Gamble: General Petraeus and the American Military Adventure in Iraq": Discussion
at Harvard Book Store, 1256 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Harvard Sq)
FREE

From the guy that brought you "Fiasco" that compiled the missteps prior to the Iraq War, "The Gamble" was originally published a year ago and is now available in paperback. This is a good chance to hear an author address his statements with some time for objective analysis -- if there's such a thing regarding Iraq.

MON 2/1

The White Owls (8pm), Jen Kearney & The Lost Onion (10pm)
at Toad, 1912 Mass Ave, Cambridge (Porter Sq)
FREE

There's a special guest playing with Dennis Brennan's bluesy squad tonight. After years and years of playing every Monday at Toad, Tim Gearan is supposed to be playing guitar with The White Owls. I guess he can't stay away... Those who go will hear the played head and shoulders above other bar bands.

Jen Kearney & The Lost Onion pick up the rest of the night with some solid soul/funk with Latin accents.
