THUR 12/22: Parties & Music

Happy Winter Solstice!

I would like to list the Solstice Circus at the Plough & Stars tonight, but the last one was $12.

THUR 12/22

7pm to Midnight
"The Workmen's Circle's Annual Radical Hanukkah Dance Party"
at All Asia Bar, 334 Mass Ave, Cambridge (near Central Sq)
$5 to $10 -- sliding scale

Feat: DJ Ross of Love, DJ Treefingers, Boston Sass Attack, Hanukkah Hootenany Band, more

I assume the 3rd night of Chanukah is celebrated with DJ's, cheerleading, live bluegrass/klezmer, a "human menorah"(?), and lots of dancing.

THUR 12/22

TallBoy Industries Holiday Party
at Church, 69 Kilmarnock St, Boston (Fenway)
$10 / 21+

Feat: Big Digits, The WonderMics, Immigrants

You can dance on the other side of the river with a funky, hip-hop holiday party.

Why is it a holiday party? Because it's the holiday season, and someone will have a Santa hat on... (TallBoy Industries sounds like a company I'd like to work...)

THUR 12/22

The Okay Win (Midnight), Orca Orca (11pm), Roman Numeral Three (10pm), The Sound of Growing Up (9pm)
at TT the Bear's Place, 10 Brookline St, Cambridge (Central Sq)
$8 / 18+

I'd be willing to bet this is the last gig of the year for most bands. I know it is for folkish indie-rockers The Okay Win who also played their first gig of the year at TT's. It's a solid lineup of what I'd call folk-rock-indie-pop from top to bottom.

There'll be a lot of good tunes wafting through the air all the way bak to the pool tables.

THUR 12/22

The Scrooges, Black Thai, Cult 45, Stil de Grain
at Great Scott, 1222 Comm Ave, Allston
$8 / 18+

A bunch of rockers from various hard 'n heavy bands don their dirty Santa suits and rip through songs by Iggy Pop & The Stooges. Can you feel holiday spirit?

What seemed like a lark when it began a few years ago has turned into a loud yuletide tradition that had the Scrooges bouncing around various venues for a couple weeks.
